Update on Injuries: Rambo Well, Green Out

Category: Breaking,SportsBig Dawg @ 7:01 pm

From football Coach Mark Richt’s teleconference this evening:

  • Starting wide receiver AJ Green has a AC joint separation in his left shoulder.  He is out for the Kentucky game and unlikely for the Georgia Tech game.  He could be healthy in time for a bowl game.
  • Backup safety Baccari Rambo suffered a terrifying concussion late in the 4th quarter yesterday.  He is out of the hospital and doing well.  He will not play in the Kentucky game this Saturday, and no word on his likelihood for the Georgia Tech game.
  • Linebacker Darius Dewberry had a hyperextended elbow during the Auburn game.  He is doing well and is expected to play Saturday against Kentucky.

Post-Auburn Game Notes

Category: Breaking,SportsBig Dawg @ 12:45 am

We wanted to provide a little post-game wrap up for all the fans. The Georgia Bulldogs beat archrival Auburn Tigers 31-24 in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. Georgia came back from a 14 to nothing deficit in the early minutes of the game.

This win means Georgia will be bowl eligible, regardless of the outcome of the next two games.

Wide receiver AJ Green left the game in the second quarter with an apparent arm injury. We later learned he has a sprained shoulder. He is reported “out indefinitely” but we hear he will be back for a bowl game.

Safety Baccari Rambo suffered a concussion in the last minutes of the game, in a play that likely clinched the win for the Dawgs. He immediately went limp and was taken off the field on a backboard and stretcher. We understand that he is doing well.

And some news links:

And if there are any questions, we can answer them in the comments. GO DAWGS!

Fall Grad Speaker is Secretary of Defense

Category: BreakingBig Dawg @ 5:30 pm

The University of Georgia has announced that the commencement speaker for fall graduation will be United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Story from ABH.

This is the most prominent speaker for a UGA graduation speaker in quite a bit. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was the last national speaker. Justice Thomas spoke at the spring 2008 graduation. No word on why this good speaker is speaking at the fall (smaller) and not the spring (larger) graduation.
